5 TIPS TO TAKE THE PERFECT PICTURE

HAPPY PRESIDENT’S DAY!

Hey Everybody! How was your weekend? Ours was great! Whenever my whole family is together, it’s a blessed day! Are you off today? The girls are off of school today and the LOML is off, too.

Today’s prompt from The Sway blog is

5 TIPS TO TAKE THE PERFECT PICTURE

I am not a photographer. I took one class at The Haven blogging conference given by Kevin and Layla Palmer over on The Lettered Cottage a bunch of years ago and learned a lot.

Natural Light

In the class we took at the conference, they went into how natural light is the best source of light. It looks bright and clean and the colors look more natural. The camera flash makes the pictures look harsh and interior lights make a picture look yellow.

Close~Up

Try taking a picture of an object at arms length then take a picture close-up. It’s so much more interesting to see the details and you feel like you can touch it.

Shutter Speed

To take advantage of all the natural light you can, you use a slower shutter speed to let in more light. Because you are using the slower speed, any movement at all will blur the picture so I encourage you to use the camera’s timer and a tripod to eliminate any movement that may cause blurriness.

Perspective

Don’t take pictures flat on while standing in front of the object or space. Get down on the floor or up on a chair or ladder to take an interesting perspective of the object. It makes the picture more interesting to look at and gives it a little more character. When I take pictures of food, I use perspective a lot.

Practice

Don’t be afraid of your camera. Take lots of pictures of the same thing using different features of your camera. See what you like to use. Go to photography classes, read blogs, read articles about taking photographs. Learn, practice, and have fun!

By no means am I photographer. I’m learning every day and am still not great at it. Let me know what your secrets to great photos is in the comments.

The prompt for tomorrow is “Tell us a mysterious story. Or write a review of your favorite mystery book or movie.”

Have a great Monday!

Love y’all,
