Our family is officially on summer break. Woo Hoo!!!
In between the pool, the library, walks with the dogs, going to the movies, a vacation trip to the beach, and sleeping in, the LOML and I are going to try to squeeze in some home projects.
In the plans for our master bedroom renovation, I pictured a beautiful white rustic faux fireplace on the wall where our bed is now. It’s the first thing you see when you walk into the massive bedroom. I want the fireplace to make a huge and beautiful statement.
I’ve been keeping my eye out for mantels wherever I am ~ Goodwill, ReStore, Craigslist, etc.
I’ve really hit it big in the past looking for the perfect piece for whatever project I’m working on at the time.
The family room fireplace mantel
Well, this time was no different. After a few trips to different ReStores, I hit the jackpot on one of our Saturday jaunts.
Look how pretty! And it was half off!!! We ended up paying about $75 for it!! YEAH!
My plan for painting it white went out the window after it sat in our room for awhile. I fell in love with the black with gold accents. The top of the mantel is stained a dark brown which goes well with the plank wall in our new reading nook.
Now that we have the mantel, our next step in the project will be to build the fire box and the hearth.
Come back and see our progress.
Love y’all,
Linda
