CORN HOLE BOARD KIT

Here in North Carolina, we have a game you may know called Corn Hole.

You have two teams of two, each team having four small bean bags.

You have two corn hole boards about 27 feet apart, each with a hole drilled into it. One person from each team stands at each board.

The goal is to lob your four bean bags towards the board trying to get the bean bags into the hole. You get points for getting it into the hole or onto the board. You can even knock your opponents bean bag off the board if you’re an experienced corn hole player (or very lucky!).

Because Son #1’s wedding was an outside affair, the beautiful bride wanted some outdoor entertainment. There was a fire pit for making s’mores, dance floor, Jenga game and Corn Hole.

We wanted to make the corn hole boards special for the happy couple so we bought a corn hole kit from Best Buy that came with two corn hole boards with removable legs that were just plain wood and 4 red and 4 blue bean bags.

Because the wedding colors were black and gold, I ordered personalized bean bags in black and gold with the couple’s last initial on them. I got them on Etsy.

First I painted the boards black with the same black paint I used on the stair railings.

Daughter #1 helped paint the legs.

I bought vinyl letters for the couple’s initials and the beautiful bride loved the “corny” order of the letters “BLT”.

I peeled the backing off of the letters, applied the sticky side to the board, rubbed with a credit card to get all the air bubbles out, then peeled the top clear coating off.

Because we wanted the boards to be slick so the bean bags would slide when tossed instead of sticking, I painted six coats (yes I said SIX COATS!!) of polyurethane and look how pretty and shiny it turned out!
