GREAT IDEAS ~ but a different outcome!
“THE BEST LAID PLANS”
As I try to finish all the projects that are bouncing around in my head, I find that they usually end up completely different than I imagined them. Good or bad, it adds a little stress, but makes me use my imagination (and sometime google) to figure out other ways to do things. It forces me to think outside of my little comfortable box!
Well, this project was one of those plans.
I found my inspiration on Pinterest
Source: Diggers List
I already had two large planters in my garage that I painted black over plastic. I found out later, the paint comes off really easily if you make a mistake with stickers.
ANYWAYS…I went to Lowe’s and bought two medium 8″ ($2.94 each) and two small 6″ ($1.77 each) planters. I painted those black as well with Valspar Gloss Black spray paint ($4.95).
I also bought all different kinds of faux flowers (Mrs. BLACK thumb!) and foam blocks from AC Moore.
To get the words on the planters I wanted to use a stencil. I couldn’t get the stencil to lay flat on the rounded body so that wouldn’t work. I then wanted to use stickers. After ripping off the paint whenever I had to unstick a letter to straighten it, I QUIT!!!!
So I ended up just free-handing the words with a very tiny paint brush and white acrylic paint. Of course, it’s not perfect enough for me but I have to just suck it up and like it anyways!!
Here’s the finished product:
I had a lot of fun doing these planters. I just have to be flexible with the plans in my head versus the outcome that happens.
Thanks for visiting!
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!
Love y’all,
Linda
