HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!

The LOML is Chinese American so every year we make a yummy Chinese meal on Chinese New Year.

This year we made

  1. Marinate steak and chicken with 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp cooking sherry, and 1/4 tsp sesame oil in separate bowls for at least 15 minutes. Marinate shrimp with 1 tsp cooking sherry and 1/4 tsp sesame oil.*
  2. Cover bottom of large skillet with about 1 inch deep corn oil.
  3. Heat oil to 375°.
  4. Place noodles into heated oil for 3-4 minutes, flip and cook other side for 3-4 minutes. Drain and place on serving plate. Keep warm in 170° oven.
  5. In separate skillet or wok, pour 2 Tbsp oil and 1 tsp salt, heat, then add onion. Cook on med/high heat until caramelize, about 4 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  6. Add 1 Tbsp of oil, 1/2 tsp minced ginger, 1/2 tsp minced garlic, 1/2 tsp salt. Heat oil then add chicken breast. Add 1 tsp black bean and garlic sauce. Mix well. Cook on med/high heat for 6-8 minutes. When chicken is cooked through remove and set aside.
  7. Repeat the same exact steps for flank steak cooking on med/high heat for 3-4 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  8. Clean wok.
  9. Return to heat. Add same oil, garlic, ginger, salt as above. Then add shrimp. Cook om med/high heat for 3-4 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  10. Add 2 Tbsp of oil, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp garlic to pan. Heat then add mixed vegetables. Cook for 1 minute. Add 1/2 cup chicken broth and cover. Let steam for 3-4 minutes.
  11. While vegetables are cooking, mix 1/2 tsp cornstarch, 1 Tbsp oyster sauce and 1/2 cup of water in a cup. Stir until well mixed then add to vegetables along with green onions. Remove from heat after gravy begins to thicken.
  12. Combine onion, all meats to vegetables and mix well.
  13. Place mixture on warmed noodles and serve.

My mouth is watering looking at this picture. This meal is one of my family’s favorites! A lot of preparation but it is worth it!!
