Our master bedroom is huge!!
Now, I know most of you wouldn’t complain about this problem. Let me explain why I’m whining a little bit about it.
We’ve lived in our house for 16 years and as an amateur decorator/DIYer/design blogger, this room has always stumped me. It has the usual bed, nightstands, entertainment center, and two dressers but there’s a whole half a side of the room that I never knew what to do with. There’s a couch and a tread climber and the LOML’s desk. It has always bugged me. It never looked put together.
When I saw this inspiration picture from Love Grows Wild I had a good idea of what to do with the black abyss that is the other side of our bedroom.
We have the same pitched roof and I never thought to put the bed on that wall. This is such a romantic, soft, beautiful space with all the different textures and neutral colors! I love it!!!

I love the natural wood planked wall. I can see our own personalized frame saying “This is our happy place”.
Where the bed is now, I want to install a faux fireplace like this:
I’m not planning on having the television above the fireplace. There is a wall on the opposite side of where the bed will be that has my dresser and it is surrounded by the master closet on the left and the bathroom on the right. The television will be above the dresser.
We’re also planning on replacing the builder grade doors with sliding barn doors for both the closet and the bathroom.
For the two windows around the fireplace I fell in love with these curtains that are in the first inspiration picture. I found them at IKEA for $29.97 for two panels.
We’re also going to remove the very worn carpet and lay down the same engineered bamboo flooring that we put in the upstairs hallway and the master closet.
There’s a lot of plans for this room and I can’t wait to get started. The wood floors will be the most costly so we’re going to try to do the reading nook and the faux fireplace first. I can’t wait to share it all with you one project at a time. I hope you’ll stay with us and visit often to see our finished work. Let me know what you think. I love hearing from y’all!
