I have challenged myself to write a post every day for the month of February. I found a list of prompts from The Sway that I’ll be using so ya’ll can learn a little bit more about me and my blog. Today the prompt is….
SHARE YOUR 5 BEST ORGANIZATION TIPS
Picture me walking around my cluttered house yelling, “EVERYTHING HAS ITS PLACE!” Whenever I’m in a cleaning mood (company coming, dust bunnies large enough to have personalities, feet sticking to unmopped floors) my kids run and hide. Because I hate cleaning and picking up the house, I try to make it as painless as possible for everyone involved.
Having a large family, our house sometimes feels like it’s buried under pounds and pounds of clutter ~ clothes, shoes, toys, snack wrappers, and don’t forget the dog toys! Here are some of my organizational tips that we use in our home.
#1 SHOE STORAGE
We’ve taught our kids to take their shoes off before coming into the house so we have a basket shelf unit in the garage with a basket for each of the kids’ shoes. We clean them out frequently of too small shoes or out of date shoes.
#2 CLOSET STORAGE
When we renovated our master bedroom closet we had a whole side of the closet empty so we bought large baskets and label tags and organized scarves, gloves/mittens, gift wrap and bows, hats, hangers, and purses. Every time I walk into the closet, the baskets look so neat. My OCD at work!!
#3 JEWELRY STORAGE
As part of our master bedroom renovation, I needed a place to organize all my jewelry. I found an armoire/entertainment center at the ReStore so I reconfigured some of the shelves, painted the cabinet a pretty green and voila…a new jewelry storage cabinet.
#4 LAUNDRY HAMPERS
When we renovated our laundry room, I wanted the kids to separate their own laundry so I found this laundry hamper with three separate bags for whites, colors, and stained clothes. The system works perfectly!
#5 PHOTO ALBUM STORAGE
I love pictures!!! I love organizing pictures! I love scrapbooking and journaling and doing photo books online! I love everything about organizing pictures. Needless to say, I have a lot of photo albums and photo books. That’s why, when we built our reading nook in our master bedroom, I wanted a place to store some of our photo albums. I love how it ended up!
I have to admit to y’all, I get excited about decluttering, organizing, making things run smoothly. This post was fun for me to write. Do you like organizing your spaces? Tell me what your top 5 organization ideas are in the comments.
The prompt for tomorrow is “Groundhog Day! Did you see your shadow when you walked outside this morning?” Come back and see!!
If you haven’t already done so, please consider signing up to receive updates of Home is Where My Heart is right into your e-mail as soon as I post it. Thank you in advance.
Have a great Friday!
Love y’all,
Linda
