On our last trip to IKEA (I believe there will be an IKEA in Heaven girls!), we bought two of this great lamp for the family room redo.
But if you know me at all, I'm not a white kinda gal. I love color and lots of it!
So I wanted to cover the lampshades with a pretty fabric that ties in the eggplant color of the couch and the green walls.
I found this beautiful fabric at Joann.com.
The steps to my new lampshades
1} I traced the shade onto brown paper for a template. I rolled the shade onto the paper while tracing.
2} I added one inch for the seam and cut out the template.
3} I tried the template on the lampshade to make sure it was the right fit.
4} I placed the template onto the back side of the fabric and traced.
5} I cut the traced fabric out.
6} I sprayed the back side of the fabric with Loctite Spray Adhesive.
7} I placed the fabric onto the lampshade rubbing out any wrinkles as I went along.
8} I hot glued the edges and rolled it over the lampshade top and bottom.
Footnote: My hot glue gun stopped getting hot half way through the project. I took a break until this morning when I ran over to AC Moore for a brand new hot glue gun. It works great!
And introducing my new lampshades
This was such a fun and easy project. And most importantly, they look GREAT!
What do you think?
And last but not least, the fun Before/After shot
What do y'all have planned for the weekend?
We're headed to the beach to celebrate my 50th birthday. I'm working on a post about how I feel about that whole thing!!
Have a great weekend!
Love y'all,
Linda

I totally agree that there will be an Ikea in heaven! It's magical!
I skimmed right over these lamps in the store but I LOVE what you did with them! I definitely would have put these cute lamps in my cart!
Thanks Liz!! Every time I go to IKEA, I see something new and wonderful. It reminds me of Disney World 🙂 Have a great weekend! ~Linda
