I love my master bedroom. I love climbing into our bed, flipping on the television to watch “Friends”, while the LOML falls fast asleep. Or cuddling with the kids on a cold night, watching one of their favorite movies, nibbling on some popcorn.
My master bedroom is huge! Most people would like to have my master bedroom. But I think it’s crazy big and I never had any idea what to do with half of it. Not one of the worst problems in the world but it has always bugged me a little bit.
Here are a few different angles of our “Before” bedroom.
Do you get the feeling I don’t know what to do with some of the areas of my bedroom?
You can read about some of the inspiration for the redo here.
Here is the inspiration picture that got me all excited about redoing my bedroom. Isn’t it beautiful??!!
I love how she utilized the pitched ceiling for the back of the bed. I have a similar pitched ceiling and never thought to put my bed there! After seeing this beautiful picture, I went about designing what would be our new romantic master bedroom.
We broke up what was a pretty big undertaking into smaller projects.

The Furniture
Our New Chairs
I bought these sweet chairs for $310 for both. Overstock.com was having a sale and I had a coupon so I got a great deal!!
I wanted a king size metal bed and a dear friend gave me a gift card to Wayfair so I had fun shopping around for the perfect bed. We ended up buying the Pietrzak Grove Panel Bed.
The LOML has to have a fan blowing on him to fall asleep so I found this beautiful fan/chandelier at Overstock.com for $250. The fan is for the LOML and the bling bling is for me!!
The beautiful and very soft shag carpet that I get to walk on when I climb out of bed I bought at Overstock.com for $284.
The 7×9 Bella Collection green shag carpet in the middle of the room I bought at Home Depot for $109.
And now that you got most of the details, let me show you our new romantic master bedroom!!
A little reading area.
My work space
This little table I bought from a sweet lady on Craigslist for $20. It’s black with gold embossing which matches perfectly with the fireplace. The book is the new Clint Harp book “Handcrafted.” So far it’s really good. I love Clint!!
There are always those special pieces that you want to include in your decor even though they don’t match or they’re out of style. This next picture was drawn by a caricature artist of the LOML and I when we went to Disney World when we were first married. We used to love to play tennis long before our lives got crazy with children.
These two beautiful cross stitches were given to us for our wedding. I just love them!!
These two amazing paintings are from our trip to Kazakhstan when we adopted our girls. The artist was local to Karaganda, the city where our daughters were born.
This is our view when we’re sitting on our bed. Now just imagine barn doors over the closet and bathroom doors. Next project!!
And who doesn’t love a little Before & After??!!

Oh my word, I LOVE what you’ve done with your bedroom! I’ve never been a fan of having a big bedroom because, well, what do you do with all the space?! But we’re currently in the market for a new house, so now I’m kind of hoping for a big master bedroom so we can do something like this….I particularly love the reading nook!
