OUR CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR ~ and a new look on the blog!

Welcome to the new face of “Home is Where My Heart is”. I’ve been blogging about eight years and I thought it was about time to give our little blog a facelift. We cleaned it up a little, changed some things so that it can run a little bit more effeciently, and we love the new look!

When I started my blog, I never thought of making it a business. The purpose was to journal all the home projects we were doing, then it grew to crafts I did with the kids, recipes I was trying, and the family trips we took. As people showed more interest in what I was writing, I thought “Why not make a business out of it?”

I found a free class on facebook called “Start a Money Making Blog.” Pete and Heather Reese from “It’s a Lovely Life” created a 5 day crash course FOR FREE!!! So the LOML (The Love of My Life) and I buckled down and took the course. Wow! It was full of so much helpful information even for a blogger who has been doing this awhile. It’s a lot of work, and at times I wanted to pull my hair out but the LOML has way more patience than I do (thank goodness!) so we are continuing to make the blog even better but I wanted to show you “Our Christmas Home Tour” so I thought I’d kill two birds with one stone and show you the new blog format, too. We hope you like it! Please suscribe to our blog by filling out your e-mail on the right side so you can receive our posts as soon as we post them. And thanks so much for coming by and reading about our journey.

Now to our Christmas Home Tour!

Here’s the outside of our home. We just painted the front door and shutters and I love the new colors. So classic!

I love how our beautiful new Christmas wreath we bought at Lowe’s Home Improvement shows off the blue door.

As you enter the front door, you’re greeted by the staircase. Hopefully, this coming year, we’ll be able to rip off the carpet and install dark wood stair treads and white risers.

It was fun decorating the “new” old bench space with black buffalo check pillow covers from Amazon, a free printable, and greenery from our local Garden Supply Center. This bench was the LOML’s when he was small.

The mailbox is full of letters to Santa. The mailbox is from the Garden Supply Center.

Next to the foyer is our blue dining room. I love decorating in everything blue in this room. I hung free printables of some of my favorite Christmas hymns.

If you walk through the foyer, you enter the family room where you will be greeted by my favorite part of Christmas…baby Jesus and the Willow Tree nativity scene. I believe this is the real reason for the season of CHRISTmas.

Growing up in South Florida, I never got to decorate a fireplace mantel and now I get the honor of doing just that. I love all the reds and the twinkle lights. The tree is decorated with all my favorite memories for each child, their crafts, smiles and sweet memories.

Off of the family room is the kitchen. On the pass through wall, I filled glass containers with a little snow and lighted lanterns. It really looks like real snow.

I made the glass bowl snowman again this year. You can go here to see all the ways I decorated him last year.

When you head upstairs, you’re greeted by our small tree that we’ve had since we moved up to NC and we lived in a small apartment while our house was being built. We had two small boys and a Christmas tree on the kitchen island and it was such a special family time for us. I always smile when I see this tree 🙂

I made these ornament wreaths a couple of years ago and every year a few ornaments break because I haven’t figured out a way to store them correctly 😉

Finally, you’ll walk down the hallway to our new master bedroom. I had so much fun decorating this room for the very first time!

I have never had a Christmas tree in my bedroom before and it is so beautiful at night when all the other lights are out. The glow of the Christmas tree lights is so warming to my heart!! I know that sounds corny but it really is true!

Forgive me for the overload of pictures. I was just so excited with all the pretty sparklies all around my house, I wanted to share it with you!

Thanks for coming to visit my blog. If you like what you see, please consider entering your e-mail to the side bar to get my posts automatically. And thank you!

Hope y’all have a blessed Christmas season and a happy New Year!

Love y’all,

Linda
