Our family is on its way to experience our first cruise EVER!!!!
The LOML, Daughter #2, and I spent a couple of days visiting my sister in South Florida where we got to meet my new Great Niece Princess A and boy did I give her all the cuddles and kisses!! I was sad to say goodbye 🙁
Yesterday we picked up Son #3 and #4 from the Orlando Airport, ate dinner at Kyoto Japanese Sushi and Grill and checked in to our hotel room at Fairfield Inn by Marriott Orlando Airport.
This morning we woke to a beautiful sunny day and my adrenaline was running anticipating boarding the cruise ship. We headed to the nearest Denny’s for a delicious breakfast and great conversation.
With full stomachs, we drove an hour to Port Canaveral and to our big boat Voyager of the Seas. As we got closer, the boat that seemed small slowly became bigger and bigger. It was huge and very intimidating!! And it wasn’t the biggest ship at the port. My heart was jumping out of my chest.
As we boarded, we went through TSA which went very smoothly. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. As we waited for our room to be ready for us to move in, we toured the ship. WOW!! Lots of sparkle and bling bling. There were fancy shops, a casino (lots of smoke!!), lounges, and restaurants. The chandeliers alone were breath taking!
While we waited for our room to be ready, we had lunch at The Windjammer which is the free cafeteria and boy were there choices. There was an abundance of choices of meats, breads, salads, veggies, fruits, desserts, drinks.
We played a little putt-putt golf, ping pong and played an 80’s music trivia game at The Schooners Lounge. We did pretty good!!
Our room had a queen bed with a couch and television and a very small bathroom with a shower. We paid extra for a window for us and our kids. Their room had two singles and we wondered where the third child would sleep. The cabin steward came in and pulled a single bed out of the ceiling. It was very cool!! The kids were right down the hall from us so we met outside their room and headed to whatever plans we had.
Here’s our room with me putting Victoria Secret models to shame!! (Hee hee!)
Before the cruise, we had a discussion about if it’s possible to jump off the ship and land in the water. Some said it wasn’t possible and that you would land on the deck below. Well, I found a spot that you can jump and land in the water. I got a little seasick looking down. Speaking of seasickness, I was very concerned that at least one of us would experience some motion sickness so I ran out and got the Scopolamine prescription and I picked up the bracelets from CVS but we never had to use them. Thank goodness!!
We found the arcade so we played some skee ball and air hockey. Have you guys ever experienced playing air hockey and all of a sudden 30 more pucks are released onto the playing field while you’re playing with the one puck? I got so over stimulated hitting all the pucks!! But it was a lot of fun!!
On one of the decks, there were ping pong tables. Our family loves ping pong and I’m comfortable saying we’re pretty darn good!! I’m proud to say I used to be the best ping pong player in our family until my kids got older (and taller) so now I’m about fourth on the list of “BEST.” It’s very humbling!!
Daughter #2 wanted to find the library (surprise, surprise!). It didn’t have many books but it did have this cool model of our ship.
Our assigned dinner time is 7:00 so we were there on time dressed up (church clothes) and may I say we clean up pretty good!! We were waited on, our waiters remembered our names, food and drink preferences, and they were so kind!! The dining room is beautiful! There is a humongous chandelier in the middle of the room that catches your eye as soon as you walk in the room. WOW!!
The food was absolutely delicious!! Dessert was even better! Daughter #2 had vanilla ice cream, Son #3 and Son #4 had cheesecake, the LOML had and I had Boston Creme Pie. I am NOT going to lose weight on this vacation!!
Tomorrow is a sea day on our way to Cozumel, Mexico, so we’ll spend the day eating and swimming and playing on the boat.
Can’t wait to share it with y’all!!
Love y’all,
Linda
