I’m really feeling old today!!
Getting out of bed today was tough. My back is aching from sitting for 9 hours on the ride down to Orlando and standing for hours waiting to get on all the rides. I used to be able to do all of these things and now every muscle is screaming at me!! It stinks getting older!
Today we went to Magic Kingdom.
We parked our cars and rode the bus into the park.
Right after taking the obligatory castle photo……..
…..all the young people headed to Space Mountain!
Then everyone headed to the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. We got to shoot at all the targets and rack up the points. While we were shooting, the ride stopped so the LOML just kept shooting. That explains his killer score!
Then we ate lunch at the Columbia Harbour House.
I ordered shrimp, green beans and rice with a diet Coke.
Daughter #1 had the chicken pot pie and green beans. Looks yummy, yes?
While we waited in the Haunted House line we got to enjoy the pretty sight of the riverboat going by.
While in line, the clouds rolled in and it got eerily dark. When we came out of the ride, it looked like it had poured but stopped in time for us to not get wet!!
Here are the guys wearing their soccer/ultimate frisbee jerseys.
Next we went to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It’s a great show of pirates with Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow sprinkled throughout.
While some of the boys went on Splash Mountain, the rest of us went shopping on Main Street. Daughter #2’s main objective ~ a princess tiara.
Next we did Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid ride.
We were supposed to meet the rest of the gang outside the Little Mermaid ride and we waited and waited and waited. We were holding all their phones so there was no way to get in touch so we headed to dinner while the LOML waited at the meeting place for them.
We went to the StarLight Cafe for dinner. I had rotisserie chicken and mac and cheese and green beans with a diet coke and it was yummy!! The guys did end up catching up with us a few minutes later.
After dinner, we had to do the old standby It’s a Small World. And yes, the song was stuck in my head for the rest of the night!!
When we came out of the ride we got to watch the firework show put to all the great Disney theme songs. It was beautiful!!
To end the night, some of the kids wanted to do Space Mountain one more time and the other half headed to Peter Pan’s Flight. While were we waiting in line for Peter Pan, Daughter #2 called us and said she lost her brothers. She went to the bathroom and when she came out, the boys were gone. She didn’t know that she came out a different door than when she went in. So we left the line to find her. She called while we were walking to her and said she found her brothers and they were going on Space Mountain.
Since it was so late, the LOML and I decided to go home. We had the option of leaving the park to get to our car by bus, monorail or ferry. The bus driver we had in the morning said the buses didn’t run to the parking lots at night so we took the monorail. What a wait!!!! Us and every other person in the park wanted to ride the monorail at the same time!!
When we finally got home, we crashed. It was an exhausting day!
In the morning, we learned that the night before some of the family rode the bus to the parking lot (the bus guy in the morning lied to us!!) and some took the ferry. This is what we learned….fastest arrival to the parking lot by far was the bus, next was the monorail and last was the ferry.
I’m going to have a little fun here. Here’s a before and after of my family. The before is our family trip to Disney World in 2007 and the after our family now. I love every single one of these beautiful people!!!
Tomorrow we’re off to Hollywood Studios. Come back and see what fun we have!
Love y’all,
Linda
