Welcome to San Diego, California!
We are really enjoying our time out here as we cheer on our boys at the USA Ultimate Club Championships and do a little sight seeing in this beautiful city.
The boys had one game this morning playing for 11th place. It was a beautiful morning for some frisbee!!
Our two awesome ultimate players had a great National tournament and a great season! I’m so glad they enjoy playing together and that they don’t mind the stalkish parents who love watching them play!!
They ended up losing to Double Wide (from Texas) 15-11. I wish they would have ended this tournament on a high note BUT they came in at 12th seed and ended up 12th seed so they did pretty well. We’re very proud of all of them!!
After the last game, we went out to lunch at Burgers & Brew where I had a cowboy cheeseburger with barbecue sauce and a big ole onion ring on top with fries on the side. The LOML had Nashville Hot Crispy Chicken Sandwich with sweet potato fries. We both enjoyed our sandwiches. We ate outside and it was so comfortable. The weather here really is perfect!!
We were planning on going back to the fields to watch the semifinals of the tournament so before we had to get back we drove around and saw the beach. There was a beach access inside this little neighborhood where there were cars all along the streets (I’d hate to live in that neighborhood!) so we parked and walked down these steep stairs to see the water. The tide was all the way to the stairs so we just looked as we stood at the bottom of the stairs.
We kept driving on the road that ran along the ocean and just enjoyed the beautiful scenery!
We went back to the fields and watched the semifinals ~ Machine (Chicago) vs. Johnny Bravo (Denver). It was an exciting game where a Machine player (from what I understand he is one of their best players) got scored on by a Johnny Bravo player and the Machine player got mad and pushed the scorer. He got a red card which means he can’t play for the rest of this game and half of the next game which was the championship game because Machine ended up winning the game we were watching 15-14.
The second game of the semifinals ~ Ring of Fire(Raleigh) vs Truck Stop (Washington, D.C.). We cheered on our fellow NC team but sadly they lost 15-13. Both games were exciting to watch, very close scoring and there is some awesome talent on all four teams.
When the games were over, we were starving so we looked for a good restaurant on our way back to our hotel but everything closes at 9:00!!! What is that about??!! We did find a Denny’s which was packed. Probably because everything closes at 9:00!!! Breakfast for dinner is always good!
Tomorrow we’re going to the Championship game which will be The Machine vs. Truck Stop. It should be a great game! Then we’ll start our vacation!
Please come back soon and read all about the rest of our San Diego, California vacation!
Love y’all,
Linda
