Welcome to our visit to San Diego, California Day 6!
We plan on going to the Ultimate Frisbee National Championship later today but until that time we planned on having some good food and see some beautiful scenery!
We checked out of our hotel because we were moving to another hotel right on the beach for the last two days of our trip.
We heard that a great place to have breakfast was Ki’s Restaurant right across the street from the beach. We ordered our food on the first floor then grabbed our number and went upstairs to find a table with a view. Our number was #1 ~ I took that as a sign that it was going to be a great day!
The LOML had the Mediterranean Scramble which was two eggs, red onions, basil, feta cheese, tomatoes, capers, and artichoke hearts with a side of fruit. He also ordered an apple muffin. For his drink he had a Mango Madness smoothie.
I’m a very boring safe eater so I had pancakes and eggs with a side of bacon strips and a cup of hot tea. Everything was delicious! Our view was pretty cool, too.
Again, the weather was beautiful so we took a drive through beautiful neighborhoods in La Jolla and Torrey Pines.
We got to the frisbee park just in time to see the start of the Championship game. It wasn’t quite as exciting as the semifinal games but it was still fun to watch. The crowd was very enthusiastic!! Many songs were sung, cheers were screamed. In the end, Truck Stop, who was the #1 seed, defeated Chicago Machine 15-12 to claim the 2023 Club Championship – Congratulations!
After the game, we checked in to our new hotel, the Ocean Park Inn located in Pacific Beach, just north of San Diego. It is right on the beach and the parking lot is under the hotel. It is a very tight place so I was really glad we had a small car. Every inch of the beach line has stores and hotels and restaurants so they really have to be creative with parking.
Our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated.
It’s not a great picture but this was the view from our room. The blue building is a restaurant that we will go to twice during our stay.
A boardwalk follows the shoreline in both directions from our hotel so we just started walking. As it got later the crowd got bigger and bigger. Lots of bicycle riders, skateboarders, other walkers like us. The restaurants and bars were full of laughing patrons who were also enjoying the beautiful weather outside.
We planned our walk so we arrived at our dinner restaurant, World Famous Surfside Diner, right on time for our reservation.
I had the Lobster Bisque and the Lobster and Shrimp Ravioli.
The LOML had the Pacific Clam Chowder and the Potato Wrapped Seabass.
To round off a great meal, we shared key lime pie. YUMMY!!
After some nice conversation with my best friend, we headed back to our hotel via a nice long walk on the boardwalk.
Good night everyone!
Please come back to see some seals sunning themselves on the shore!
Love y’all,
Linda
