This is my last post about our trip to San Diego, California. The LOML and I had such a great time watching our boys play in the 2023 Ultimate Frisbee National Championship.
We had fun cheering our team on, watching them play amazingly well, talking with other frisbee parents and enjoying the beautiful weather.
To begin our last day in this great town, we walked across the street for a delicious breakfast at The Pacific Beach Shore Club. It’s a small sports bar decorated with beach and military motif and cobwebs for halloween. The employees were very sweet and breakfast was delicious. Can you guess what I had??
If you guessed pancakes, you know me pretty well or I’m very predictable. The LOML had Grilled Mahi Mahi tacos.
After breakfast we headed towards our scheduled whale watching date. We had some time to waste so we stopped at a boardwalk in Mission Beach to enjoy a walk along the beach to enjoy the beautiful weather! We saw rollerbladers, venders selling San Diego tee-shirts, nice restaurants and lots of surfers.
Then we headed to the whales!
It was a little chilly as we hopped onto the boat but the sun was bright and we were ready for our new adventure. The captain told us that it would be a little rough as we road out to the open seas. There was a storm the day before and the waves were really high. I can’t imagine them being any higher than today because we were riding on a roller coaster. My stomach was screaming for it to stop!! We drove around for about two hours looking for whales. All I could think of was keeping my breakfast down!!
Sadly, we never saw any whales but it was still exciting to ride the waves. I was a little seasick so I was happy to get back to shore.
We met Son #3 and Son #4, their roommate and friend (and our adopted son) Mr. M, and their old roommate who just moved near San Diego a couple of weeks before, Mr. B, for dinner at The Pacific Beach Shore Club. It was hopping because it was Trivia Night. While we enjoyed some Big Josh Nachos and Sweet Chili Calamari appetizers, drinks and dinner. The LOML had the same thing for dinner that he had for brunch and I had the Cowboy Burger. We played some trivia and Son #4 even won a round and got a gift card! We all laughed a lot and had a great last evening!!
When my kids were all very little, I began praying (and still pray) for their friends. I believe you are who you hang around and I wanted them to have great friends and good people and God apparently has answered my prayers.
We were so blessed to be able to travel to San Diego to watch the boys play frisbee and to enjoy the beautiful town of San Diego. We head home tomorrow. I love traveling but I love going home!!
One of the boys’ teammates’ girlfriends took pictures during the tournament so I will close with some great pictures of some great frisbee. Yes, my boys are in each picture. I can’t help it. I’m a proud mama!!!!
Thanks for appeasing a proud mama by reading all the way to the end of this post. I really appreciate every one of you that comes and visits my blog. I hope you enjoy what you read and maybe have a smile on your face reading it.
Love y’all,
Linda
