THE KITCHEN ~ Where all the fun begins!

When the LOML (love of my life) found our present neighborhood on Redfin about a year ago, the builder had four spec homes that were already finished and all had different floor plans.

There were two floor plans I really liked. One had a kitchen island that I would have died for. The island was humongous and stained in a dark wood color. The kitchen also had a gas stove top. The rest of the house, I didn’t like so much.

The second house had everything we wanted in every room BUT the kitchen. The kitchen wasn’t bad….it just didn’t have THAT island!! If only I could transplant the island from the first house into the kitchen in the second house. Sadly, no way!

After much contemplation, we chose the house WITHOUT the awesome kitchen island.

I’ve been in the new house for 5 months and I’ve grown to love my kitchen. I NEVER EVER dream of the other island EVER!! (wink, wink)

Our New Home

The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in our home. Family and friends always end up in the kitchen as meals are being cooked. Memories are made with great conversation and lots of laughs.

Because the builder decorated our house with gray tone walls and floors, I felt I had to switch my color palette from our old house’s greens to our new house’s blues (my FAVORITE color). Because I had to look for new blue accents, I went right to Amazon.com. Amazon is such a great place to look for basically anything and everything with free shipping!!

Now I get to show you my new blue kitchen and share the links to where I found all my new goodies!!

Here is a list of many of the things I bought for our new kitchen. Click the link to go straight to the amazon page for each item.

We bought these barstools from Wayfair and I just love them. They fit underneath the island so it doesn’t take up any floor space. They’re pretty comfortable, too.

Chair sliders

kitchen

I want to protect our new vinyl flooring so we attached these chair sliders to every stool and chair.

Drawer dividers

kitchen

We use these dividers in every drawer that is filled with small items that I always lose when I need them most.  It makes it so much easier to organize the “junk” drawers.

Dish drying rack

kitchen

This dry rack is great for the pans and large serving plates to dry after washing. It drips right into the sink. No wet towels on the counters anymore!

Plastic tumblers

kitchen

These plastic tumblers come with tops and straws so you can take them anywhere. Very durable.

Cabinet pullout shelf

kitchen

I love being able to find a top or a pan when I’m cooking instead of digging through cabinets.

Spice drawer organizer

kitchen

Our drawers are smaller than the drawers in our old house so we just keep the spices we use a lot in this drawer. Very easy to find what you’re looking for.

16 oz coffee mugs

kitchen

I am a hot tea drinker (about 3 cups a day) and the LOML is a coffee drinker so these mugs are great; very deep and they match our new plates.

Trivets

kitchen

We use these to protect the counters from hot pans. And they match our kitchen.

Faux plants

kitchen

I know greenery in a room makes it look cozy and gives texture but I kill plants all the time!! So these faux plants are wonderful for a person like me. I love how they look on this large window. Look at what I can look at while I’m doing dishes. Isn’t it pretty?

Large utensil holder

kitchen

All our cooking utensils in one place!

Waterproof kitchen floor mats

kitchen

These mats are pretty and plastic. All I have to do is wipe a spill up. I don’t have to throw it in the washer. So easy!

Soap dispenser

kitchen

This soap dispenser came in a two pack. One says “hands” and one says “dishes.” The hands one is in the half bath in the next room. I love them!

Kitchen towels

kitchen

These towels are very absorbent and they match my kitchen.

Hot water dispenser

kitchen

A very good friend introduced me to this hot water dispenser many years ago. Because I drink hot tea all day, it keeps 5.3L of water nice and hot.

Bless the food before us farmhouse sign

kitchen

I love this saying and I found it in the right color for my kitchen. I pray this every day!!

I loved sharing my kitchen with you and all the great things I found on Amazon to make my kitchen all mine! I spend a lot of time in my kitchen and it puts a smile on my face when I walk in. I’m very blessed!
