HAPPY 2014 Y'ALL!!!
I hope the start of your new year has been a good one.
Mine has been pretty lazy. I've been hanging with the family spending lots of time together eating, playing, laughing. The perfect way to spend time!!
But now reality has set in. Everyone has started back to school and/or work so now it's my time to get back into the groove. I'm walking around my house glaring at the mess ~ Christmas decorations (yes, they are still out!), laundry from lots of company, dirt that I've tried to ignore.
It's time to get organized! It's also time to figure out my house goals for the year.
Every New Years dinner, each person in my family thinks of their top 3 goals for the coming year. We also read the prior year's goals to see if we met any or all of them. Some of us did better than others. I believe making goals helps me to at least try to stay on track.
My personal goals for this year are:
1) Grow my blog/steady income.
2) Exercise regularly/lose 20 pounds.
3) Read my bible every day.
We also made a couple of family goals:
1) Big family vacation to celebrate my 50th birthday and the LOML's retirement from IBM.
2) Get more involved in our church.
Last year I posted about my projects I wanted to complete on my home for the year 2013.
Let's see how I did .
1) Family Room Built-ins CHECK
OH MY GOODNESS! THAT'S THE ONLY PROJECT ON MY LIST I FINISHED!!! I'M A COMPLETE DIY FAILURE!!!
BUT…. I did some projects that I didn't put on my to-do list.
Things I didn't get done
1) Painting the bonus room and bookcases.
2) Hang beadboard (I think I'm changing it to Board and Batten) paneling in upstairs hallway.
3) Pull carpet off staircase and replace with hardwood treads.
4) Install laundry room cabinets.
Now, if I win the lottery (which I don't play) or the Publisher's Clearinghouse people come knocking on my door with that really big cardboard check and a butt load of balloons, I want to install hardwood floors everywhere and stain them dark just like my family room floors.
I hope everyone is staying safe and warm. The weather is so weird around here. We're taking Son #2 back to Appalachian State tomorrow where it has snowed and they expect the temps to be in the NEGATIVES!!!! Brrrrrr!!
Stay safe and have a great week!!
Love y'all,
Linda
